Topic 4 Control Subsystem Slide 2

The architectural philosophy of Concerto is to separate the application processor tasks from the real time processing tasks. This enhances system performance in both MIPS and response time, but it also enhances the robustness of the overall system. The architecture is designed such that the master system and the control system are relatively independent as if one was working with two separate devices, except that it is now contained in a single package. After a short overview of the Concerto architecture, this presentation is going to focus on the control subsystem. The focus will be on the core, the new VCU, the memory on the control side, the enhancements made on the ePWM, and the additional peripherals and enhancements on the C28x subsystem. This presentation will also spend a couple of minutes on some of the new benchmarks that have come up for this device.
