MSP430L092 Introduction Slide 9

The Analog Pool can be configured as an 8-bit DAC, ADC, SVM and Comparator. TI has named this peripheral a “pool” because it is simply that. It is a pool of analog resources that an application can pull from to accomplish a particular analog function, whether it be a comparator, DAC or A to D converter. The ADC can also be used more specifically for something like an SVM or a supply voltage monitor or temperature sensor, which will be shown in a later slide. The two main resources or building blocks are the comparator and this low voltage reference. The low voltage reference, which will be used in large part to create TI’s DAC or their digital to analog converter, is the simpler of two.
