MSP430L092 Introduction Slide 33

Choosing to produce with the C09x will require an additional development step: this is emulating the C092 with the L092. This is a quality measure to ensure that there are absolutely no issues or unexpected behavior as the memory map changes. The key to moving from the RAM-based L092 to the ROM-based C09x is the emulation mode. The emulation mode changes or swaps the memory addressing so that the L092, from the perspective of the addressing, looks like the C092. The benefits of the emulation are two-fold. First, the emulation compiles and generates the production ROM mask. The second benefit is the ability to test and validate the production mask instead of code that is one-step removed from the final production mask.
