This slide will take a closer look at the hardware development platform. The L092 target board operates natively at 0.9 V. The two main ICs available to the target board are the MSP430L092 and the external EEPROM, using SPI communication interface. The complication occurs when interfacing with a PC and a traditional USB-FET. It operates natively at 3 V. This is where the active cable board comes in. It translates the power and JTAG signals from a 3 V source from the MSP430 USB-FET down to 1.5 V for the target board.
