MSP430L092 Introduction Slide 8

The block diagram of the MSP430L092 looks and feels very similar to one of the traditional MSP430 devices. There is a 16-bit RISC architecture CPU with orthogonal instructions and atomic addressing. This allows for high code density and code compatibility with previous MSP430 devices. The clock system is new and is called the Compact Clock System. It contains two internal oscillators, the high frequency oscillator and the low frequency oscillator, and the clock allows this device to run up to 4MHz. Users might notice that the memory configuration includes a 2kB ROM memory, as well as 2kB RAM memory. This accounts for different variants that had just been mentioned, the L092 for RAM and the C09x for ROM devices. The L092 also has a low voltage RAM out circuitry similar to previous families. As mentioned before, the L092 also has eleven interrupt capable GPIOs similar to other MSP430 devices. The L092 has an integrated analog module, the Analog Pool.  However, the Analog Pool is a comprehensive module that is capable of several different functions. The Analog Pool is capable to provide most, if not all, of the analog functions that an MCU system requires.
