Shown here is a functional system block diagram of the LM27402. The over current protection (OCP) comparator is guaranteed to perform with no larger than +/- 5mV of input voltage offset to provide an accurate means to detect current limit levels. The internal 10uA current source from voltage-in to CS - supplies an accurate DC current to set a voltage offset compared to the inductor DCR voltage. The boot capacitor pin, CBOOT, provides a boost rail roughly one integrated LDO voltage above the input rail. This allows dual N-channel MOSFETs to be used as the high-side and low-side switching elements. The low impedance gate driver circuitry allows high gate charge (QG) and low on-time drain to source resistance (Rds-on) MOSFETs while preserving fast transition times, thus lowering switching-related power losses.
