F5xx platform technology enables many new features and performance options for new and existing MSP430 customers. This family offers three times the performance when compared to the F2xx family with up to 25MHz CPU performance available down to a Vcc of 2.4V. Many new capabilities offered include: integrated USB 2.0 optimized for ULP battery powered equipment, integrated RF transceivers utilizing TI and Chipcon technology (sub-1GHz & 2.4GHz radios will be available integrated on F5xx devices), and larger available memory devices (e.g. 256KB Flash & 16KB RAM). Other features include In-System-Programmable (ISP) Flash down to 1.8V (extending battery life), “Blocked” Flash that allows the capability to read one section of Flash while erasing another section, and a new Unified Clock System (UCS) module which supports low system cost and ultra-low power consumption. With three internal clock signals, designers can select the best balance of performance and low power consumption.
