In terms of high speed serial protocols up to 10 Gb/s, Pericom has a complete family of signal switches. Pericom has established a leadership position in high speed switches through a combination of high performance and volume production with leading notebook, desktop, server, storage, networking and embedded customers. High bandwidth of over 8 GHz allows use of the switch in serial connectivity applications of up to 10 Gb/s. Low insertion loss results in higher amplitude of output signal and hence better signal integrity. Low return loss results in wider eye opening and hence consequently better signal integrity. Low power is important for use in data center applications. Low switching times enable faster dynamic multiplexing and low skew results in switching wider number of lanes in parallel. Low off-isolation results in lesser channel interference and hence better signal integrity. Pericom introduced the two lane PCIE Gen 3, a 2:1 mux/demux switch and the pinout has become the industry standard, enabling both flow-through output configuration for ease of layout and foldback output configuration for locating the switch between connector slots for matched output trace length and similar delays.
