The Isolator µModule Technology uses inductive coupling through the coupled signal inductors embedded in the substrate to provide galvanic isolation across the barrier. This fully differential inductive coupling provides the best common mode transient immunity versus the competition’s single ended inductive coupling. The LTM2881 has a self-contained 2500VRMS isolated DC/DC converter including decoupling capacitors and transformer. The LDO provides a well-regulated 5V output for use by external applications. The LTM2881 integrates all components necessary to create a complete, isolated, full duplex, RS485 transceiver with integrated power, with no external components required. Utilizing Linear Technology’s expertise in power supply design, the LTM2881 achieves high efficiency of up to 62%, and support surplus isolated power for neighboring functions when operating full RS485 signal levels.
