The turn-key solution developed by NXP makes smart meter design easy. First, a Poly-phase reference design, targeted at one or three phase meters and designed to meet international metering standards, is available on loan for evaluation purposes. All the design resources can also be downloaded to kick-start development. Second, production is underway of the MCF51EM 32-bit ColdFire V1 Microcontroller with four independent 16-bit SAR ADC, iRTC with tamper detection, flash update, Automatic Meter Reading SPI and SCI, and up to 256KB of Flash and 16KB of RAM along with a complimentary MQX RTOS. Lastly, the low cost DEMOEM development board provides complete hardware support. Combine that with CodeWarrior Development Studio and Processor Expert for a fast and easy development environment.
