In summary, the LTC3877 is a dual output multiphase synchronous step-down DC/DC controller with 6-bit voltage identification (VID) control. The 6-Bit VID control sets the output voltage from 0.6V to 1.23V in 10mV step resolution of the output voltage, a necessary feature for highest performance when powering FPGAs and ASICs. Up to 12 phases can be clocked out-of-phase for high current applications, up to 300A. It has ±1% output voltage accuracy over temperature, providing good output voltage control. The LTC3877 can also be used without VID control, producing an output voltage from 0.6V to 5V. Both ranges provide a ±1% output voltage accuracy over a -40°C to 125°C temperature span. The input voltage range is from 4.5V to 38V. The LTC3877 has a selectable fixed operating frequency from 250kHz to 1MHz, or it can be synchronized to an external clock. Additional features include adjustable soft-start or tracking, foldback current limit, output overvoltage protection, and two power good output voltage signals.
