AS1115-Slide4

The AS1115 is especially targeted for user interface applications, but of course can also be used driving LEDs only if an I²C interface is required. If an SPI interface is required, the AS1116 is recommended where a daisy chain with many chips can be done to drive large LED boards. The AS1115 is limited to four devices per I²C master because of the four I²C addresses built-in. To summarize the features of the AS1115, in short, it can drive up to sixty-four LEDs with ~5mA average current and reads back up to sixteen keys. The part offers a digital brightness control of 4-bits for each LED segment and an analogue current setting with an external resistor. The Error Diagnostic is very important to mention since this is the first multiplexed LED driver chip to introduce detailed LED diagnostics. This means customers can exactly tell which LED in the Matrix is open or if there is a short. The AS1115 is available in an easy to handle QSOP-24 package or, for space sensitive applications, the 4x4mm small and 0.6mm high TQFN-24 package. So the benefits of the AS1115, in short, gives customers a single chip, complete user interface solution. It allows flexible designing and easy programming with a huge reuse factor from project to project.
