A synthesizer is a special kind of clocking device that contains one or more PLLs with a network of multipliers and dividers to generate multiple output frequencies. The output frequencies from each of the PLL’s can be completely unrelated. This type of clock is ideal for systems that have a variety of components that require different frequency inputs.
