The PI2EQX6814 is a 4-port/8-channel SAS2/SATA3 ReDriver which can operate up to 6.5Gbps, supporting RXAUI for Ethernet network backplane driving applications. This device supports both pin strap and I²C configuration of the transmit output level, transmit de-emphasis, and receive equalization. Each of the eight channels can be individually configured through I²C. The device also supports auto-slumber mode in which if the receive input is idle the transmit output is disabled, thus saving power. It also provides an increased output swing of 1.1V, and operates at 1.2V VDD with a low active power of 100mW per channel and also has power-down standby option. This product is available in a 100-pin BGA (11x11mm) package. For supporting I²C configuration only, without pin strap, Pericom offers the PI2EQX6874 option, in a space-saving 56-pad QFN (5x11mm) package.
