Pericom has a long history of providing ReDrivers for different protocols including PCI express, SAS/SATA, XAUI, HDMI, USB3, and now DP. The first SATA ReDrivers for notebooks were offered more than six years ago, since then they have evolved into comprehensive family of one, two, and four port ReDrivers. Pericom also came up with 6 Gb/s 4-port/8-channel SAS2/SATA3 ReDrivers. ReDrivers are characterized by low voltage, very low power with different power saving modes, flexible configuration of signal integrity parameters like transmit de-emphasis, transmit output swing, and receive equalizer. These configuration settings can either be done through pin strap or through I²C serial interface. Both the SATA and SAS ReDrivers have gone through extensive compliance tests, with several hosts and several hard disk drives (HDD) and solid state drives (SSD). These devices far exceeded the compliance requirement for SATA3 at the Plugfest, they passed all five hosts and three test vendors.
