Third, traditionally frontplane and backplane pins are not commonly distributed on all sides of the microcontroller. Therefore, special device placement and lay-out has to be done to reduce EMI and shorten communication lines between the microcontroller and the LCD display. This makes the layout very complex and implementing changes to improve EMI will be a time consuming task. However, NXP can beat these challenges by offering flexible front plane (FP) and back plane (BP) assignments, making board layout very easy.
