The baud rate generator is included as part of the UART1 module. The baud rate is determined by the equation shown. The SBRL register is a 16 bit timer that is clocked by the system clock through a prescaler that provides divisors of one, four, twelve, and forty eight. The example in this slide shows how to calculate the register settings from a desired UART baud rate.
