The LTC4310 is suitable for many isolated applications including isolated I²C, SMBus and PMBus interfaces, isolated power supplies, positive to negative rail communications, Power over Ethernet, and breaking ground loops. Although the majority of isolated applications call for the use of Ethernet transformers, the LTC4310 is equally capable of operating with capacitors for the isolation barrier. Certain applications can take advantage of the naturally superior EMI performance that capacitors bring over transformers.
