Power supply design is an often overlooked yet increasingly challenging task for system level designers. As system complexity increases, power requirements increase all while board space shrinks. Hence the need for a simpler point of load solution that maintains excellent efficiency while requiring a minimal overall footprint. Intel introduces the Enpirion EM2130 which integrates the inductor, controller, and MOSFETs into a 30 A power SoC in a small 11x17 mm package with a solution size of just 360mm2. Footprint compatible options are available to scale up to 40 A or down to 20 A.
