Another advantage of Vishay IR Receivers is an internal shield that protects the ASIC from electro-magnetic interference (EMI). As shown in the figures, the patented metal shield is integrated into the lead-frame and formed around the ASIC during the manufacturing process. This offers increased performance and lower cost when compared to other IR receivers which use bulky external metal shields.
