The voltage-current characteristics of a ZNR® device, including the varistor voltage and clamping voltage, is provided on this slide. These characteristics are usually expressed in a log-log plot since the ranges of these devices are wide. The cause of discontinuity at 10-3A results from the +/-10% tolerance of the tolerance of the varistor voltage. In the high-resistance, low current range, the data of the minimum varistor voltage is plotted in order to calculate the leakage current or insulation value on the actual circuit. For the low-resistance, high current range, the data of maximum varistor voltage is plotted in order to check clamping voltage.
