The relationship of ZNR® characteristics is explained on this slide and will aid in the selection of the appropriate ZNR for an application. Please note that varistor voltage cannot exceed the “max. allowable voltage”, therefore power line voltage fluctuation must be considered. In addition, the “withstanding voltage of electronic equipment” is for short impulses only and does not represent a continuous value. All of these characteristics must be factored in when selecting a varistor voltage because “clamping voltage”, “varistor voltage” and “max. allowable voltage” have a proportional relationship with each other.
