MotorControl-Slide6

The emergence of high-speed digital processors and modern converters has enabled the use of closed-loop control in contrast to open-loop control. The motion controller receives feedback data from the Voltage Monitoring or Current Monitoring and Rotor/Load Shaft Position blocks in order to assess the performance of the motor. Using pre-programmed software, the motion controller can then adjust the drive (via the Gate driver and Power Stage) to the motor if required to achieve optimal performance of the motor. This is a double closed loop system - motor performance data comes from the voltage monitoring or current monitoring loop and the second motor performance data comes from Rotor/Load, Shaft Position loop. Using this feedback data the motor can then be driven at its optimum performance via the Motion Controller.
