Volume inside cellular handsets is a premium, and adding the DC to DC boost converter takes up valuable space. The NXP PCA9410 and PCA9411 devices are packaged in a very small wafer-level chip scale package with nine bumps on a 0.4 mm pitch, and a body size of only 1.2 x 1.2 x 0.6 mm. They operate at a high switching frequency of 3 MHz, and require only three small footprint external components. A practical layout is just 15 mm2.
