Similar to the LTC2870, the LTC2871 is a robust, pin-configurable multi-protocol transceiver supporting RS232, RS485, and RS422 protocols, and offers many of the same features. However, from the circuit diagram, it can be seen that the LTC2871 offers independent control of two RS232 single-ended transceivers and one RS485 differential transceiver, each on dedicated I/O lines. Therefore, the RS485 and the RS232 can transmit and receive concurrently. The transceiver pins have an ESD protection specification of ±16kV. The LTC2871 is available in a 38-pin 5mm x 7mm DFN package, as well as a 38-pin TSSOP leaded package.
