STNRG012 Digital Combo PFC Controller

STMicroelectronics' STNRG012TR is a digital combo controller that embodies a multimode (transition mode and DCM) PFC controller, a high-voltage double-ended time shift controller for LLC resonant half-bridge, an 800 V start up generator, and a sophisticated digital engine that manages and supervises the previous three blocks.

The STNRG012TR can manage both AC and DC (for battery connection) input voltage in a wide range. This feature makes it very suitable for SMPS applications in the power range from 90 W to 300 W where there is switching from the main AC supply to a DC battery and vice versa, such as an emergency light.

A THD algorithm improves the distortion and achieves efficiency in compliance with the most stringent energy saving regulations. Digital algorithms are managed by an 8-bit core with dedicated fast peripherals and stored in internal ROM with key parameters that can be fully programmed during the production phase, allowing wide configurability and flexibility.

The device can also externally communicate through UART port, allowing monitor function, black box storing, software patch, and testing mode. With STNRG012TR, the user can achieve high performance and customization and at the same time save space, BOM count and complexity, time to market, and costs.
