PWD5T60 Three-Phase Motor Driver

STMicroelectronics' PWD5T60 is a three-phase motor driver integrating a gate driver and six low R_DS(ON) power MOSFETs for applications up to 500 V. It is the optimal solution for motor drive applications such as fans, pumps, and small appliances.

The integrated power MOSFETs have low R_DS(ON) of 1.38 Ω and 600 V drain-source breakdown voltage. The high integration of the device allows for the efficient drive of loads in a reduced footprint, making the PWD5T60 an optimal solution for applications with space constraints.

The device has dedicated input pins for each output and a shutdown pin. The logic inputs are CMOS/TTL compatible down to 3.3 V for easy interfacing with control devices. Matched delays between low-side and high-side sections guarantee no cycle distortion and allow high-frequency operation. The driving stage ensures the perfectly optimized trade-off between switching time and EMC emissions limitation.

Robustness is a distinctive factor of PWD5T60. It embeds cross-conduction prevention with interlocking and deadtime, plus a comparator for fast overcurrent prevention. Smart ShutDown functionality ensures fast and effective protection against overload and overcurrent. The dedicated UVLO protections prevent the power switches from operating in low efficiency or dangerous conditions, enabling optimal and fail-safe operation.

The integrated bootstrap diodes and all the embedded features ease the PCB layout design, making it compact and simple. This helps simplify the bill of material and reduce the overall application cost. The device is available in a compact QFN12x12.
