Memory Protection Devices' easy and effective way to load, lock and replace coin cell batteries

Memory Protection Devices' GLIDERS Memory Protection Devices offers a new category of battery holders for lithium coin cell batteries. "Gliders" are a hybrid type, combining the low cost of retainers with high reliability. They are particularly suitable for handheld consumer and medical products, electronic cards, electronic toll tags, single-use devices, alarm systems, main boards, PNDs and RFID.

Utilizing a special plastic tray that secures the coin cell and glides easily into the nickel-plated phosphor bronze retainer, the battery is protected from polarity reversal and is assured uninterrupted contact. Retainers come with PC pins or can be surface mounted and are easy to solder. Additionally, they provide shock and vibration resistance.

Gliders are available in 20 styles, ranging from 10 mm diameter (CR1025) to 24 mm diameter (CR2430). Versions that hold two batteries in series for 6 V applications are also available. These devices are offered with either through-hole or surface-mount leads, accommodating most layouts. The retainer has pressure contacts that offer low electrical resistance and are optimized to keep a tight connection with the battery.

Due to the Glider's intuitive design, the battery is easily changed without tools or instructions. Built-in circuit protection eliminates the drawbacks associated with standard coin cell battery holders, as the holder prevents an electrical connection by the battery when upside down. Additionally, the ultra lightweight plastic body has a physical feature for reverse polarity protection.
