Quixon Solderless Terminal

Molex's Quixon solderless terminals can be used in virtually any application to connect a wire to a barrier strip or components such as contactors, relays, switches, and capacitors. The process in which quick disconnects are mated to male tabs can be tedious and difficult for the operator making the connections on the assembly line. Molex's Quixon quick-disconnect terminals were developed to help avoid such issues.

One of the difficulties with typical quick disconnects is the high force needed to mate them to the male tab. High force is generally required so the terminal does not disconnect easily. However, this can make the assembly difficult. Imagine the operator spending eight hours a day repeatedly mating a quick disconnect to a tab, fighting the high force that is supposed to keep them together.

Enter the Quixon. Molex changed the design of the standard quick disconnect by adding a raised floor and cantilever beam that flexes when it is put on the male tab, making it easier to attach. Once it is mated, it is difficult to get it off. Molex also allowed for blind mating because operators don’t always have easy access to the tab. This was achieved by placing side relief cuts on both sides so the Quixon can be mated at an off-angle.

Quixon quick-disconnect terminals expand Molex’s existing Avikrimp, InsulKrimp, and Krimptite product lines. These quick-disconnect terminals offer lower insertion force and greater blind-mating capability versus standard Avikrimp, InsulKrimp, and Krimptite terminals. These terminals are available in uninsulated, partially insulated, and fully insulated versions in a variety of wire sizes.
