IXYS' ultra-fast FRED diodes offer very soft recovery behavior which reduces inductive overvoltages

Image of IXYS' DSEI Series Fast Recovery Epitaxial Diode (FRED)IXYS, a Littelfuse Technology's DSEI series are ultra-fast FRED diodes, which have gained wide acceptance in the market. The FRED diodes by IXYS are characterized by very low reverse recovery currents, even at high -diF/dt. Simultaneously, they show a soft decrease of the reverse recovery current, avoiding inductive over voltages with very high dv/dt. These overvoltages could cause a malfunction or the destruction of the active switching devices such as a MOSFET, IGBT, or bipolar transistor. These ultra-fast diodes are offered in TO- 220, TO-247, SOT-227B, and miniBLOC (array) packages. These diodes are available with blocking voltages from 200 V to 1,200 V.  Typical applications include data communication and telecommunication system equipment.
