Summary

The L6928D is a high efficiency monolithic synchronous step down regulator capable to deliver up to 800mA at output voltages from 0.6V up to VIN (100% duty cycle). It is realized in BCDV technology and uses a constant frequency peak current mode as control loop architecture.

The input voltage ranges from 2V to 5.5V. Thanks to the very low quiescent current (25µA) and shutdown current (0.2µA), the device is very suitable to supply battery-powered equipments (particularly suitable for 1 Li-ion cell) like PDAs and hand held terminals, DSCs (digital still cameras) and cellular phones.

The switching frequency is internally set at 1.4MHz but the device can be externally synchronized from 1MHz up to 2MHz. If this feature is not required, it can operate in low consumption/low noise mode depending on the SYNC pin value.

A very low internal reference voltage (0.6V Typ.) allows the device to regulate very low output voltages, in accord with the new microprocessors supply voltage requirements. The very low MOSFETs RDS(ON) ensure high efficiency at high output current. Other interesting features are UVLO (undervoltage lockout), OVP (overvoltage protection), constant current short-circuit protection, PGOOD (Power Good output) and thermal shutdown.
