FS1015/3000 Air Velocity Modules

Renesas' FS1015 and FS3000 modules provide direct air/gas flow measurement and enable closed-loop control for the system to detect failures in the fan or blower, fan speed control, and filter clogging.

The FS1015 and FS3000 air velocity modules measure direct air speeds of up to 15 meters/second. Both share the same internal flow channel to produce the same output flow curve while the different mechanical housing design targets different mounting requirements. The FS1015 features leads for vertical mounting and side tabs to secure with screws. The FS3000 targets low-profile board surface mount applications and is designed to measure airflow around critical components.

Conventional methods of monitoring critical component temperature are by arrays of temperature sensors or the internal temperature sensor in the MCU, GPU, MPU, etc. These methods are inaccurate and complex as each system board needs to be individually modeled. The FS1015 and FS3000 measure the direct local air which allows the system control to make adjustments quickly. By providing a closed-loop control, systems can potentially reduce the energy cost of the system.
