Astra 2 Structured Light Camera

Orbbec's Astra 2 is the flagship model of their Astra series, leveraging structured light technology and Orbbec's custom ASIC MX6600 for high-quality depth processing. It retains the FoV and depth measurement range of its predecessors, featuring an upgraded optical system for enhanced accuracy and stability. The Astra 2 supports multi-camera synchronization, preventing interference when multiple cameras are used simultaneously.

Supporting the UVC protocol, the Astra 2 simplifies integration and provides a user-friendly experience. Its hardware D2C functionality aligns depth and color information across different resolutions, reducing the computational load on the host system. An integrated six-axis IMU enables enhanced pose tracking by monitoring the camera’s motion and rotation.

The Astra 2 provides real-time high-resolution depth measurement up to 1,600x1,200 at 30 fps and supports 1,920x1,080 at 30 fps for color images. This combination of high-quality color and depth data makes it ideal for applications such as dimensioning, interactive displays, and indoor scanning. It also supports synchronization of depth and RGB frames along with flexible multi-camera setups, expanding the field of view and measurement range for complex setups.
